Impact of Closing Southwell Pool
FOSS did a survey to find out the impact on pool users, these are the results
What is your age range?
Our survey includes feedback from pool users aged under 18 to over 65.
-
"I am over 80 and can’t see us all getting together at our local pool in my swimming lifetime. Just feel very sad"
-
"Fun swim in particular was a great way for her to build confidence and meet children that she will go up to Minster School with in September"
-
"We need the pool to reopen. My youngest is 6 and it’s a key age for him to learn swimming."
How frequently did you use the pool?
Our impact survey was completed by regular pool users.
What activities did you engage in at the pool?
Lane swimming was the most popular activity, done by over 55% of those surveyed, this makes good use of the pool and is well known as one of the best ways to keep fit, whilst being low impact, so suitable for all ages and when pregnant.
Have you accessed any of the alternative pools?
There are a number of swimming pools in the area, but our survey shows that many people who had used Southwell pool are not using these facilities and are no longer swimming.
If you have not accessed alternative pools, why?
Active4Today have managed to provide a few extra sessions at Newark and Ollerton pools and other pools are nearby, but time taken to travel and distance are contributing to people not using these.
"Kids can no longer have lessons due to lack of spaces at other centres and time travelling"
